My friend Kevin accompanied me to this show. It was a beautiful Vermont Summer day. AND Phish was the opening act that day,so I was pumped. I made a mistake and overindulged in partying before the show started. The few hours we spent in the Stowe parking lot before the show were a blast. But by showtime,we were a big ragged. Because of this,my memories are sparse.
I DO recall a beautiful topless female in her early 20s walking past us at the show. That was a first. Phish opened the show and played well. Their opening set has become legendary in Phish circles in part because Carlos Santana came out and played some blinding guitar with them. By the time Santana did their set I was tired and the show was a bit of a repeat of the time I saw them the previous year. Did I learn my lesson about overindulging before a show? Not at all,but more on that later.
Here is a link which features one of Santana's appearances during Phish's opening set on this day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Bg7QBittNk
