Jimmy Page-Robert Plant/October 21,1995/Hartford,CT

I wish I had more memories of this show. My friends Alan and Casey attended this one with me. It was a nice October day,and the 3 of us shared the driving duties to Hartford. After checking in to our hotel,I immediately started *pre-gaming*. It was imperative that I had a good buzz before the show started. It's almost showtime. So I dragged my high, intoxicated self out the door.

As stated in a previous post,I don't care about The Tragically Hip, so I have nothing to say about their opening set.  Finally it was time for Page & Plant! They surprised the hell out of me by opening with "The Wanton Song" from Zeppelin's "Physical Graffiti" album. Wow! Then I think they played "Heartbreaker" complete with Page's unaccompanied guitar solo. The rest of the crowd was whooping and cheering with me. A bit after that song, things got kind of blurry for me. I was continuing my binge drinking during the show, and it caught up with me. Sadly,I can only recall bits and pieces of the rest of the show. My dumb drinking made me black out on a big chunk of the show.

Two interesting sidenotes: O.J. Simpson apparently had been visiting the Hartford Civic Center earlier that afternoon. Also,a bomb exploded in a building next to our hotel after the show. I sobered up enough to see the news report about the bomb on the TV. So I looked out our window and saw the news crew filming down below. What a night.

And here is a video clip from this night.
