Phish did a two day festival in Plattsburgh called The Clifford Ball on August 16 and 17. It turned out to be a huge success and a high point in the band's career. But I just approached it from the wrong angle.
I attended the 2nd day of the Ball with my then-girlfriend Ruthie. It could have been a great day,but our timing was off. We departed Burlington with a bunch of vodka and cranberry juice. Upon arrival at the show,we broke into the booze. We got to the concert site right as the 1st set was ending. So now we had a big chunk of time to kill until the 2nd and 3rd sets. We filled this time with alcohol. Not surprisingly,Ruthie got tired and went to take a nap in the car. I continued drinking, and a passerby sold me something very powerful. Well.....those 2nd and 3rd sets were a complete blur to me. So I have no memories of the concert at all.
So...thanks to bad timing, poor planning and bad decision making on my part,I blew it.
Below my ticket stub is just a small part of what I missed that day.
