Grateful Dead/March 27,1993/Albany,NY

This was my first of five Dead shows. Sometime in late 1991 or early 1992 I *got* the Grateful Dead. Previous to that, I had zero interest in the band. I simply didn't see what all the fuss was about. Anyway...after getting into it,my priority was seeing them live. In late 1992,Pure Pop Records in Burlington had a lottery for selling tickets to the Albany Dead shows. You had to stand in line at their store and pull a ticket out of a bag to determine your place in line to buy seats to the shows. I pulled ticket #3,so I was 3rd in line. WOW. It may seem trivial now,but at the time I was an ecstatic 19 year old with tickets for the March 27th show.

My pals Dan and Michelle accompanied me to the show. I was so excited to see Jerry and the Boys in person that they could have told jokes onstage and made me happy. With 22 years of hindsight I can say it was a good, solid show. Not legendary.....but very good. I loved the "Hell in a Bucket" opener and the "Casey Jones" that closed the first set. There were a few unfamiliar songs here and there, but I had a blast. The Dead were still very new to me,and I could not wait to see them again.
